Where does 如鱼得水 come from?

When Liu Bei, still without a land of his own, finally won the brilliant strategist Zhuge Liang to his cause, the two became inseparable, spending whole days discussing how to restore the Han dynasty. This stirred the jealousy of Guan Yu and Zhang Fei, Liu Bei's sworn brothers, who complained about the attention the newcomer received. Liu Bei answered them: "My having Kongming is like a fish having water. I beg you to say no more." With that image he captured how at ease he felt and how natural his bond with the adviser was. The episode is recorded in the Sanguozhi (Records of the Three Kingdoms) by Chen Shou.
